What is the BC Mandatory X-ray Inspection Program?

The BC Mandatory X-ray Inspection Program ensures that dental offices comply with the requirement to test all dental units every 3-5 years under the direction of a registered biomedical engineer or medical physicist.

BCDA members enjoy the hassle-free benefit of automatic registration in this program. This is the easiest and most cost-effective way to meet the safety requirements for radiation protection by WorkSafeBC and Health Canada.

Along with automatic registration, as a BCDA member, you will be:

• Alerted when your practice is due for inspection (anywhere between 3-5 years).
• Notified when the X-ray inspectors are in your area.
• Issued a Certificate of Compliance: X-ray Radiation Safety upon successfully passing your inspection.
